Supervision of WWTP Kubratovo and sewage pumping station Novi Iskar – rehabilitation and construction, Sofia, Bulgaria

Project description:

The project covers engineering service according to the general terms of FIDIC and also covers design, construction works, and equipment supply, putting into operation and establishment and validation of regulated effect of treatment. The project launched in conjunction with the financial memorandum for the project “Integrated water project for Sofia” ISPA 2000/BG/16/P/PE/001, concluded between the Bulgarian government and the EU Commission.

Reason:

  • Rehabilitation of the existing sedimentation tanks and reconstruction of aeration tanks for purification of nitrogen and phosphorus in the Sofia WWTP in Kubratovo
  • Completion of the pumping station for sewerage and rain waters, pressure pipelines and inlet pipelines in Novi Iskar, Sofia

Services:

  • Assessment of investment projects compliance
  • Construction Supervision implementation in accordance with the requirements of the FIDIC Conditions for technological equipment and design – construction of electric and mechanical – assembly works and for construction and engineering sites, designed by the Contractor (Yellow Book)

Additional project data:

  • Discharge of wastewater of 342,500 inhabitants to Kubratovo WWTP, which is currently discharged directly into the receiving water
  • Significantly reduce the pollution of the rivers in Sofia
  • Rehabilitation and modernization of the Sofia WWTP Kubratovo in accordance with the European and Bulgarian legislation in the field of environment, in particular, implementation of the third degree treatment to remove nitrogen and phosphorus
  • Receive quality of treated wastewater before discharge into receiving waters, meeting the standards for sensitive receiving waters according to the EU directives on urban wastewater (91/271/EEC)
