Project description:

Castrol constructed a blending plant at the Island View Facility in Durban, South Africa with an initial capacity of 500 tons of lubricants per month. This plant was a major manufacturing facility for Castrol and produced various lubricants incl. automotive lubricants and petroleum jelly. Production was finished in 2006, site should be decommissioned. The Scope of work was developed and authorized by the KwaZulu-Natal Province Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs and Rural development on November 17th, 2009. The objective of this project is to demolish the site to satisfy KZN Province and the ports authorities and for BP to completely exit this site.
